To whom it may concern,

Mr. Wadih Chehire was a graduate student in the Computer Science Department,
and is now graduating and returning home for military service. He has
done interesting research here, and helped teach courses as well, and I hope
that he will be used as a teacher or researcher to fulfill his military
service.

Mr. Chehire helped me teach CS 224, Introduction to Artificial Intelligence,
and gave some of the lectures himself. He coordinated scheduling of lectures,
made up the final exam, graded it, and decided on final grades for each
student in this very large class. I have found him to be cheerful, energetic,
and competent, qualities that go together to make him a good teacher, and
a potentially great teacher.

I also supervised his master's project, a very interesting program that
represented calculus knowledge in a way that was independent of how that
knowledge would be used by the program. This advanced the state of the art
in representation of knowledge, and I believe could be extended into a
good PhD thesis.

Wadih's only problem is that he is a quiet person, and therefore less
"flamboyant" as a lecturer than are some of us. On the other hand, it adds a
measure of credibility and seriousness and maturity to his words.
In summary, I find Wadih an excellent researcher and lecturer, and strongly urge
that he continue to be utilized in one of those roles.

If I can provide any further details or evaluation, please contact me.
